Anna Vaughan: Artist and Educator
Anna Vaughan is an artist and educator currently serving as the Art Department Chair and Professor of Studio Arts at Madison College in Madison, Wisconsin. Her artistic journey is marked by a strong academic background in ceramics, having studied at the Kansas City Art Institute under renowned artists such as Ken Ferguson, Peter Volkus, Victor Babu, Jim Leedy and others. She further honed her craft by completing her MFA at Mills College, where she was mentored by esteemed faculty members Ron Nagle and Hung Lui.
Vaughan's current body of work blends functional and sculptural ceramics, showcasing her rich exploration of form and surface. An avid drawer, she often incorporates layered slips and imagery into her pieces, which reflect her experiences at the Cobb Mountain Art & Ecology Project, where she previously served as the resident manager.
In addition to her artistic practice, Vaughan has taught at various institutions in the Bay Area, including California College of Arts, UC Berkeley, California College of the Arts, and Santa Rosa Junior College and Merritt College. Anna is an actively exhibiting artist, whose work has been shown at Peninsula Museum of Art, American Museum of Ceramic Art, Mills College Art Museum, Arkansas University Museum.
