Murals > Public Art Commission, Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center, Recreational Field Wall

This mural was commissioned by the Alameda Public Art Commission and was executed by the artist team; James Morgan, Raymond M. Patlán, and Anna Vaughan. The artists team worked together with incarcerated youth to create the mural. The mural is composed of four figures all engaged in a sport or exercise activity. Rather than present specific individuals, the figures were designed to represent people of various cultures playing and exercising together, activities that will take place in the recreation field. Linear design elements, inspirational phrases and lettering were designed by youth detained at the Juvenile Hall. The bright colors, arrows define an active space, and the diagonal lines accentuate the building’s architectural qualities.
